About Gamma Chapter

Theta Chi Gamma Chapter was first founded due to the actions of brother Roy M. Blanchard or "cappy." He transferred to Umaine and was given a bid to join another fraternity. Alpha Chapter however, refused to let him go so instead he started Gamma Chapter and initiated all of the brothers of the fraternity that had given him the bid. Thus founding Gamma Chapter of Theta Chi on May 20th, 1907.

History of Theta Chi

Theta Chi was founded on April 10th, 1856 at Norwich University in Vermont. At its founding it was called Theta Chi Society, and first met in the Old South Barracks. The founders of the Alpha Chapter were Fredrick Norton Freeman, Arthur Chase, Edward Bancroft Williston, Lorenzo Potter, Fredrick Farrar, and was assisted by the honorary member, Egbert Phelps.

  • The Fraternity Colors are Military Red and White.
  • The Fraternity Anthem is "Dear ol' Theta Chi"
